Milano Design Week – RoCollectible 2025
Matter comes center stage: from the interpretations of common materials to experimentation with new techniques, the exhibition stages installation paths that question the future of design.
The memory of matter is translated into the reuse of woods recovered from tree trunks felled during natural disasters, lending them new artistic life, like in the works of Alessandro Musolino, Andrea Zambelli, Cengiz Hartmann, Giulio Iacchetti and Mario Trimarchi. This commitment to recovery and reuse aligns perfectly with the vision of RoGUILTLESSPLASTIC, the international project conceived by Rossana Orlandi and Nicoletta Brugnoni, which celebrates its seventh edition in 2025.
RoGUITLESSPLASTIC presents and promotes the greatest achievements in Re-using, Re-cycling and Up-cycling — key principles for a conscious and responsible design.
The concept of Re-use, in particular, becomes a red thread linking RoCollectible and RoGuiltlessPlastic, underscoring the value of matter in its continuous cycle of transformation. The focus on materials and their second lives, however, doesn’t stop there. Cue the work of Polish designer Hana Vopravilova, whose Leftovers transforms corrugated cardboard and old wooden molds into new glass forms, exploring creative reuse; the 3D-printed modular furniture with recyclable technopolymers including HIVE, RIVIA and NEBULA from the SSS’AA (Scuola Superiore Specializzata d’Arte Applicata) of Lugano’s CSIA in collaboration with LATI Industria Termoplastici S. p.A. and Gimac; and the work from the MADE Program, Accademia di Belle Arti “Rosario Gagliardi” di Siracusa, employing ancient interlocking techniques on reclaimed driftwood to create objects that enhance sustainability and craftsmanship.
GUILTLESSPLASTIC renews its commitment in 2025 to collaborating with schools and educational institutions, supporting the development of a new generation of designers attentive to reuse and sustainability. Among the participating institutions are SSS’AA of Lugano’s CSIA, Politecnico di Torino, Politecnico di Milano, Istituto d’Istruzione Superiore Caterina da Siena in Milan, Asilo Infantile Domenico Boldrini, and Accademia di Belle Arti “Rosario Gagliardi” in Siracusa. This continuous exchange between education and design contributes to advancing a culture of responsible and forward-looking creativity.
