Yi Design offers a circular solution for the interior and architecture industry, by transforming industrial ceramic waste into decorative, structural, and customizable tiles and bricks.
An estimated 18 million tons of ceramic waste are produced in China annually. Discarded ceramics cannot be recycled and reused, most end up in domestic garbage, or are simply buried or allowed to amass in huge piles, causing harm to the environment. The local government does not separate the ceramic waste from the domestic garbage, and does not understand the importance of recycling, lowering carbon emissions, circular economy, and sustainable development of ceramic production.
Yi Design arranged for factories to separate domestic garbage from the ceramic waste. Over 5000 tons were collected. We founded a laboratory and a small-scale factory in 2021. Patent solutions to processing ceramic and industrial waste into tiles and bricks, providing a fully circular design solution for China’s booming interior an architecture industry. They are tested, certified and ready for mass production. Porous bricks use up to 97% recycled waste.The production method is simple and straightforward and can be applied to any ceramic production area in the world.
