What is NOVAVITA? Novavita is from Latin and means ‘‘new life’’. We are a young & award-winning
material and object laboratory, focusing on and developing waste and recycled materials and turning
them into new playful objects and textures. NOVAVITA has been set up by Dagmar and Ivana, who
are also running an architectural studio called Identity Designers (www.identitydesigners.com), out of
their own demand. In NOVAVITA it always starts with the waste and ends with a new material or
object. It used to be that all designers were taught that the form should follow the function, however,
at NOVAVITA we believe, that a more sustainable approach to design should be about form and
function following the material. Our Philosophy? ‘‘There is no such thing as used-up material. We
believe in material reincarnation. Our mission is simple: to create playful objects and textures, while
cleaning the planet. We love discovering new ways in which we can turn waste into something
beautiful. ‘‘ Recycled Plastic tiles? Our portfolio includes several different materials and objects,
which are all interlinked by the idea of using waste as one of the key ingredients. For the
RoGUILTLESSPLASTIC prize, we chose one of our favorite collections: 100% recycled plastic tiles,
mimicking different types of natural stones. All the tiles produced are handmade and therefore no one
piece is the same (just like with natural stone). The size and the shape of the tiles are tailor-made and
can be adjusted based on the client’s needs – hexagon, rectangle, or square – you think it, we deliver
it.
