Children know it. They are ecological by nature. Our goal, as parents, teachers or grandparents, is to preserve their innate knowledge of the world and to encourage them to discover and to creatively rework what nature already has given us. From a walk in the park, they discover the most precious treasures: leaves, flowers, sticks… For an expedition they are happy to use cardboard boxes to build houses or vessels. Children’s creativity and imagination comes alive through active play with these materials, all natural and/or recycled. A mass-produced toy will most likely be abandoned and forgotten soon after the purchase. A handcrafted toy, on the other hand, is an all time active stimulus: the child plays by creating, and by creating she learns. GP Atelier makes a clear and bold statement in today’s hectic, cluttered and polluted world: to bring back the deep, imaginative play as one of the essential foundations for steady and healthy future generations, as sustainably as possible. From a completely recyclable cardboard – as main and only material – GP Atelier creates small shop stands inspired by different themes. From charming Parisian patisseries and romantic fleuristes to mysterious herboristeries and Victorian librairies, these shop stands not only immediately catch the eye of kids and adults, but also make them engage on a deeper level, with a profound sense of inspiration. Making something more around a given stand comes naturally, as they are ideated around the concept of role play and crafting. In a few words, GP Atelier shifts the focus from “what the toy can do”, to “what the child can do” and aims to encourage inquiry, experimentation and social interaction. Because playing better means growing better.
