ArtPlant
Urban and Public Design
Previously, we were developing the ArtPlant. First we crushed the plastic plant just like an herbarium on an aluminum plate. But we wanted to go one step further. We find the plastic plant that mimics our flora fascinating. It is an absurd object and the more you look into it the stranger it becomes. What does this say about our relationship to nature and to ourselves? For the RO Guiltless Plastic Award, we recreated a 17th century flower arrangement with plastic plants. This is because it is also about imitating nature. In the 17th century, flowers were first cultivated to decorate the palace. Meanwhile, it is very normal to buy flowers and so we even recreate them in plastic. So the work is about our relationship to nature, social make-ability and even our god-syndrome. The project is mostly designed to create an afterthought for the ones seeing it. At first you’ll see beauty and cultural heritage, but when looking closely you’ll find a statement about our society.
