WASTE IS VALUE’ DIY KIT
Emotion on Communication
This is a DIY kit, having two stages;Step 1 ‘Waste is value’Waste contributes to life as an economic value. This kit is prepared to reach the user after a process in which the designers undertakethe design setup and the associations for disadvantageous women undertake theproduction. The project aims to cooperate with certain associations working with women in needof economic support. We have previously worked with Anatolian Artisans (anon-governmental organization for the mine-workers’ wives) and KEDV Foundation forthe Support of Women’s Work (working with Syrian refugee women). Somecomponents of the kits will be produced by such women; through workshops they willbe taught the special techniques with which they transform plastic bags and bottlesinto pre-designed components for the kits. These kits will be introduced to public through museum shops, galleries, schools, concept stores, etc. where it is possible to establish relationships through design andart, and can also be distributed to public by sponsored campaigns.Step 2 ‘Don’t waste the waste’The user participates in the design with their own waste. It is only possible to makethe objects by an active engagement of the user who will have to use their own trashin addition to the components provided in the kit. These are plastic bottles, papercups, straws and even the package of the kit which is a user manual printed on aplastic bag.The kit states its manifesto by its contents as well as the absent elements, like paperwraps, cellophane, instruction booklets. There will be nothing to throw away. This kitdoes not create any waste.
