Re-Sound
Urban and Public Furniture Design
The idea developed is to reuse these materials that “the city’ discards” (and that they could not be involved in the normal recycling process with other polymers) to create sound absorbing elements for the subway. The idea is to use a material that nowadays the city’ uses: the pipes that run through the entire underground of the city’. From time to time, when they break, the city ‘provides to change them bringing waste to landfill to be disposed of and incinerated. The object is a sound-absorbing panel consisting of two elements: – the first is the protective casing drilled on the front surface through various textures; – inside the outer shell we find the insulating material (inserted through sliding) which reduces noise pollution and sanitizes the air inside the subway.
